Blessings

God blesses those who walk in faithfulness and He shows favor to those who favor Him (Psalm145:19). In the book of Haggai (in the Old Testament) it shows the causes and reasons why people lose God's blessings and how they can come back into favor with Him. This is true of nations as well for individuals and families. 

When people put self-interests before God's interests you are falling out of favor with Him. In today's world, many Christians just come to church and sit not doing anything to build His body. They are concerned more about their own careers and their families. God is not against providing for our family. We should be diligent in our daily work and business, but we should not stop doing God's work. We will pay a high price when we put our self-interests first (Haggai 1:6). 

A lot of God's people today are giving up because they don't believe they can ever measure up. But when they look back on their lives, they will say, " I have little to show for all my struggles! I don't have much of God's holiness and glory in my life. Compared to other Christians, I will never measure up. What is the use? This is why many just give up because they compare themselves with other believers. 

But our God is in the heavens, He does whatever he pleases (Psalm 115:3) World English Bible. God does what He pleases. So, He may not withdraw earthly blessings from Christians immediately but if sin persists the blessings will disappear.
