Boaz the kinsman-redeemer

Naomi knows that Boaz is a kinsman-redeemer, which comes from the Hebrew word ga’al which means “kinsman-redeemer”, rendered by the NIV as “guardian-redeemer”. A kinsman-redeemer is a relative who is obligated to “redeem” the property, and sometimes the life or marriage, of a relation who has fallen into severe distress. For example, if there is real property that is owned by a widow, the kinsman-redeemer might buy that property so that the widow, who couldn’t farm it herself, has an income to live off of. They might also pay off a mortgage, take the person into their household, or marry a brother’s wife if they have no children so that the brother can live on through the children. In the case of Boaz, he was a kinsman-redeemer for Naomi, since he is related to her husband. In the case of Ruth, he is a relative of her husband as well, but the fact that Ruth is a Moabite would give Boaz an “out” if he wished to avoid his responsibilities to the family.

Faith

Faith is like a muscle -- one which must be "tested" to grow stronger. Imagine lying on a bench press. Standing over you is God, adding more weight to each side. You lift it, struggle with it, beg God to take it off you. But God is right there saying, "Push! I won't let it fall on you! Now PUSH!!" So you keep pushing. When it's over, you're exhausted, but stronger — knowing that with God, you can handle more than you thought you could..

Samaria

In the British Museum is a large cylinder and inscribed on it are the annals of Esarhaddon, an Assyrian king (ca. 681 – 669 B.C.), who deported a large population of Israelites from Palestine. A consequent settlement of Babylonian colonists took their place and intermarried with remaining Jewish women and their descendants. The result was the mongrel race called Samaritans. They had developed a superstitious form of worshiping God (compare 2 Kings 17:26-34).

Does the Bible say anything about dealing with a terminal illness?

Does the Bible say anything about dealing with a terminal illness?: Does the Bible say anything about dealing with a terminal illness? How can I cope with a terminal illness? What does the Bible say about dealing with terminal illness?
Text: Mark 16:2-8
The King on Trial
Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
“Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?”
“Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?”
Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
“You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
“What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him.
John 18:33-38
The last hurdle for the Jewish leaders, the one standing between them and victory over Jesus was the very man whose job it was to keep order and peace in the region, the man who represented the Roman Emperor. His name was Pilate, and in order for the Jewish authorities to silence Jesus, they needed his permission.
Look, let’s be honest; if Jesus wasn’t such a high-profile figure, they would just have killed Him, but Jesus was too well known by this time. No, they had to be legal and proper.
You would expect Pilate to be eager to do away with Jesus after the way He came into town, and don’t think for a moment that Pilate didn’t know all about that, certainly the Jewish leaders would have expected him to be a pushover, yet we can easily see from these verses that Pilate didn’t want any part of this.
The most amazing thing about this entire story, at least for me, is that Pilate examined the accused, after hearing the charge and found Him innocent of being a threat to Rome. Remember, it would be Pilate’s neck if Jesus was turned loose and then raised a rebellion against Rome, and Pilate found Him innocent.
Maybe he thought Jesus was just a nut. Surely, he knew that a nut who can stir a crowd is the most dangerous threat of all to the peace. Maybe he just thought that this was another religious squabble in the Jewish camp; they were famous for their squabbles, but the people had welcomed Him as their King only a few days before.
Whatever Pilate’s private thoughts might have been, he clearly didn’t see Jesus as a threat. If He were some kind of king, He had persuaded Pilate that His Kingdom wasn’t a worldly one that could possibly threaten Roman government. Isn’t that interesting in contrast to the views of the Jewish leadership, who saw Jesus as a threat in this world on so many levels? Again, please bear in mind that these were the very people who either knew, or with reasonable diligence, they should have known exactly who and what Jesus was.
For Pilate, the situation was becoming dire, for he feared that these crazy Jews would riot if he let Jesus go, so in the end Jesus was sent to the cross. We could say here that the fate of Jesus was sealed, but in reality, the power behind all of these political games was the one whose fate had been sealed.

The Pope which is not biblical in the first place has his own state or country which is called the Vatican. He has his own palace, guards, sits on a nice chair, leaders of this world bow down before him, he wears a fancy dress like he is a king. The pope has his own kingdom and it is WRONG and NOT biblical.

John 18:36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”

Heaven,Hell

We must understand that hell, where the soul/spirit of unbelievers goes right now is just a temporary place of punishment. All the souls/spirits now in hell will have resurrected bodies and they will face Christ in the Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15). They will be judged and be punished according to the gravity of the sins they have committed while living on earth and will be thrown into the lake of fire which is their permanent place of punishment for eternity.

Heaven is also a temporary place for believers. After the 7 years of tribulation, all people that are saved and are in heaven will come down to earth to rule the world for 1,000 years. Then after 1,000 years, God will destroy this present heaven and earth and create a new heaven and New Earth. The New Jerusalem will come down to that New Earth and that new earth will be the eternal dwelling place of all elect for eternity with the Trinity (Revelation 21:1-5).

1 Corinthians 11:23-26

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. (11:23-26)

In the Greco-Roman world, it was not unusual for large religious banquets and other meals to take place. First century AD philosopher and moralist Musorius Rufus noted that Greco-Roman meals offered many opportunities for sins to take place; it would appear that many in Corinth saw the Lord’s Supper as such an occasion. People appear to have seen the Lord’s Supper as a big mealtime, bringing in their own food and drink, not to be shared with everyone, but to be consumed to excess by their own party in church, often resulting in drunkenness, while others who had a better understanding the Lord’s Supper had nothing.

The Lord’s Supper is not a banquet, it is a proclamation of the Lord’s death until He returns, a recommitment to following Him… not a party.

Indentured servent

An indentured servant was a person who sold themselves into slavery for a certain period of time to satisfy a debt, and indeed thousands of people in the 17th and 18th centuries sold themselves into indentured servitude to escape the oppression of England and pay for the crossing of the Atlantic to get to America.

1 Corinthians 7: 12

To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. In the next verse, he gives the same instruction to women, and then tells us that the unbelieving spouse is “sanctified” by the believing one and their children are not “unclean”. This would seem to be an Old Testament metaphor, making a comparison with a Jew being married to a Gentile. I say this realizing that there are several theories out there for understanding Paul’s intentions here. Once again, considering the strange context, I’m loathed to go much further than that, except to remind you that we are in a section dealing with sexual practices. It might just be that Paul is referring to couples in which infidelity has taken place, but there is no way to know for certain. Paul continues in verse 15 to say that if the unbeliever decides to leave the marriage, the believer should let them go in peace, for they are no longer bound together.
