Catastrophe
The word "catastrophe" comes straight from the Greek "katastrophe," which was related to a compound of "kata" (“down”) and "stréphein" (“turn”). Literally, a catastrophe is a “turning over” of something, a “trampling” or a “sudden end.” The word was first used in English as a technical term in drama to describe the turning point of a play. Two hundred years later, "catastrophe" began to be used in the non-theatrical sense of “sudden destruction.”

2 prayers
There are more than 1,000 references in the Bible to or about prayer. So, I will pick a few of the most powerful prayers in the Bible. Paul tells us to devote ourselves to prayer (Colossians 4:2) and he tells us we are to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
The Lord's prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). This is a model prayer ( things we should pray about and for) "Our father in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom comes, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil".
There is power in this prayer because it is about God's kingdom coming, and God's will being done, as well as, Him taking care of our daily need's.
In Psalm chapter 3 David is praying for deliverance from Absolem, his son. David turns to God making his supplications and, confesses his faith.
1-"Lord, how many are they increased that trouble me! Many are they that rise up against me." 2-"Many there be which say of my soul, [There is] no help for him in God. Selah." 3-"But thou, O Lord [art] a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head." 4- "I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill." 5- "I laid me down and slept; I awakened; for the Lord sustained me. Selah" 6- "I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people, that have set [themselves] against me round about."7- "Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hath smitten all my enemies [upon] the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly." 8- "Salvation [belongeth] to the Lord: thy blessing is to thy people. Selah."
This Psalm is a prayer pattern for praise, and peace in the midst of pressure.
The book of Psalms is full of prayers. You should read it.

On October 17, 1956 a 13-year-old Bobby Fischer defeated premier American chess player Donald Byrne in what came to be called "The Game of the Century". Rather than resign upon recognizing his defeat, Byrne, who had won the 1953 U.S. Open Championship in 1953 and was one of the top players in the country, graciously stayed in the game so Fischer's checkmate could materialize.
Then largely unknown, Fischer (pictured here with mentor John W. Collins the same year) had managed to enter the Lessing J. Rosenwald Trophy Tournament, which was restricted to the top 12 best players in the U.S., and though he was not truly qualified at the time he was able to tie for 8th/9th place. His career would skyrocket from the end of 1956 and culminate in a World Championship victory in 1972, followed by a sudden retirement and slow descent into insanity...

Repenting for others
No. They must repent. Repentance means to change one's mind. True repentance results in a change in one's actions (Acts 3:8-14; Acts 3:19). So, true repentance is a change of mind resulting in a change of one's actions. In order to repent, one must recognize their thinking is wrong and determine to think right from that moment on. In other words, one must change their current way of thinking about God, sin, holiness and about doing God's will (2 Corinthians 7:10).
Pray that your family will stop worshipping idols, by all means, pray for them. Witness to them, but they must repent for themselves. You cannot repent for them.
